✅ 健大高崎の甲子園初出場は、東日本大震災があった2011年の夏。「機動破壊」と呼ばれた機動力と、複数の投手をつなぐ継投策で、翌2012年春には４強入りし、近いうちに日本一になるチームになると予感させました。
ただ、道のりは平たんではなかったと思います。盗塁数が少なくなると、すぐ「脱・機動破壊」と騒がれたりもしました。私たち報道陣の悪い癖です。そんな私たちに、青柳博文監督が「機動力はもちろん武器の一つですが、チームや人それぞれに個性がありますから」と冷静に説明して下さっていたのを思い出します。
その言葉通り、長打力も付けるなど、次第にパワーアップしていった印象があります。今年のチームはとくに走攻守ともレベルが高く、バランスがとれていました。
低反発の新しい金属製バットが導入された大会で、かつて機動力を看板に掲げたチームが頂点に立ったのも偶然ではないように思います。
