アメリカの海洋大気庁は11日、電力系統やGPSなどで異常が報告されたと発表しました。具体的な状況は明らかにされていません。
イーロン・マスク氏が率いる宇宙開発企業「スペースX」では、衛星インターネットに支障が出たということです。
今回の「太陽フレア」はこれまでとは違うようです。
情報通信研究機構によりますと、8日から11日までに“最大規模”の「Xクラス」の太陽フレアが7回発生。3日間でXクラスが7回発生したのは観測史上、初だといいます。

「太陽活動自体は、11年周期で活発になったり弱くなったりする。そのピークが2025年ごろと言われていて、今、徐々に太陽活動が活発になってきている時期。ここまで連続することはないにしても、大きな太陽フレアが発生する可能性というのは今後、高まっているということは言えると思う。太陽活動の極大期にフレアの規模も頻度も大きくなる傾向はあるので、そこは注意が必要」
今回の太陽フレアの影響は数日続く可能性があるとしています。

According to the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the "X-class" solar flares, the largest ever recorded, occurred seven times from the 8th to the 11th. This occurrence of seven X-class flares in three days is unprecedented in recorded history.

"The activity of the sun itself becomes more active or weaker in an 11-year cycle. It is said that the peak will be around 2025, and we are currently in a period where solar activity is gradually increasing. Although it's unlikely to have such continuous occurrences, it's possible that large solar flares will occur more frequently in the future. Flares tend to increase in size and frequency during the peak period of solar activity, so caution is necessary."
The impact of this solar flare could last for several days.
